We’re partnering with Niles Community Services to collect new toys, puzzles, and books for children ages birth to 13. Donations should be unopened and unwrapped. Thanks for making the holidays merry and bright! 11th Annual McKinley Christmas Saturday, December 2, 12–4 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home, National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum, Niles Historical Society’s Ward-Thomas House, and Von Isley Estate (Former Clingan-Waddell Mansion) Join us for festive holiday entertainment at four different locations! Free transportation will shuttle guests between all four locations. Activities at each location will vary. ChessClub Tuesdays & Saturdays (except December 23 & 30), 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Library Are you pawn-dering where you can practice and improve your chess game? Chess Club is the answer! Meet up with other players for a friendly round (or more) of this ancient strategy game. Use the library’s chess set or bring your own. Lessons will not be provided. Wrap&Yap Saturday, December 16, 2–4 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home Need a space to wrap gifts away from prying eyes? All holiday celebrants are invited to a fun, stress-free wrapping party! William McKinley’s 181st Birthday Celebration Saturday, January 27, 2–4 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home Celebrate William McKinley's birthday with games, crafts, light refreshments, and a special visit from McKinley himself! Did you know President McKinley had eight siblings? Join us as President McKinley (portrayed by Mike Wilson) discusses his relationship with his siblings. The presentation will begin at 3 p.m. The McKinley Birthplace Home will be open for tours from 2–4 p.m. Vintage Valentines Saturday, February 10, 12–2 p.m. in the Auditorium of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum According to Hallmark, around 145 million Valentine’s cards are exchanged each holiday. Join us to craft a vintage inspired Valentine’s card, learn about Valentine’s Day and its symbols, and enjoy a chocolate treat. All supplies will be provided. Presidents’ Day Open House Saturday, February 17, 2–4 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home How influential was First Lady Ida McKinley during her husband’s presidency? Join us as Belinda Weiss from the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum discusses Ida’s role in the White House. The presentation will begin at 3 p.m. Trivia and light refreshments will be available. The McKinley Birthplace Home will be open for tours from 2-4 p.m. Presidents’ Day Open Hours Monday, February 19, 1–4:30 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home Celebrate Presidents' Day by learning about William McKinley, Niles native and 25th president of the United States! Tour the replica of the home where McKinley was born and meet the president himself (portrayed by Mike Wilson).

Cookie Table: A Steel Valley Tradition Saturday, December 9, 2–3 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home Join us for an afternoon of sweet treats and regional history! Everyone loves cookies, but the people of the Steel Valley take this love to another level by baking hundreds of cookies for events of all kinds. Join author and cookie table enthusiast Alice Crosetto as she explains how this beloved Steel Valley tradition started, how its popularity exploded, and how it lives on today. Understanding Adult ADHD with Cadence Care Network Saturday, January 13, 2–3 p.m. at the McKinley Birthplace Home Join us to learn about adult attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with Ms. Barb, LISW with Cadence Care Network and adjunct professor at YSU. Ms. Barb will discuss the history and symptoms of adult ADHD, as well as treatment options. She will also differentiate between childhood and adult ADHD. Shoebox Diorama February 22 Work together with other teens to create a mini three-dimensional scene of your choice using a variety of materials! The diorama will be displayed in the library.
