The library values the education of our community’s young people and continued education of adults.

The library recognizes and appreciates the important role you play in educating our community members.
It is the goal of the library to be able to facilitate your needs as a tutor while preserving our capacity to serve all the residents of Niles.

Therefore, the library has designed a policy for tutors and their students to follow while using library facilities.
1. Due to limited space issues and patron complaints, the library restricts tutors to use ONLY the two tables located behind the reference desk to conduct tutoring sessions.

2. The library is available for tutoring sessions Monday—Thursday 9:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Friday—Saturday 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tutoring sessions are to be completed at least 1/2 hour prior to library closing times.

3. The library strives to act as a communal meeting place. The facility, while beautiful and historic in stature, is limited in space that can be utilized by library patrons. In order to serve ALL members of the community who wish to use library space, we ask that tutors are conscious of the amount of table space and the amount of time that is being used for tutoring sessions. THE LIBRARY STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TUTORING SESSIONS THAT MAY TAKE PLACE AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND DIRECT TUTORS TO USE ONLY DESIGNATED TUTORING AREAS.

4. Please remember that other patrons are reading and working around you. Therefore, please keep your voices and the noise level during your tutoring sessions to a minimum.

5. Please be respectful of library furniture and literature that is displayed. Please be careful that you and your students do not mistreat library property, and use library chairs and tables as they are intended to be used. If you move library literature that is setting on a table you are using, please be certain to PUT EVERYTHING BACK TO ITS PROPER PLACE WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED.

6. If you use library materials, such as books, magazines, etc., please return those materials to the book carts so they can be re-shelved properly by library staff.

8. Finally, the library asks that you and your students uphold ALL of the Patron Rules of Conduct while utilizing library facilities.

9. The Library reserves the right to change this policy as needed.

The library thanks you for your cooperation in abiding by the policy.

Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in the educational development of the people in our community.
